Here’s a fun one for you… If you’re a cell phone user in the US, which our demographics say 88% of you are, this is a matter that impacts you. Would you believe that the US is about to approve a merger between AT&T and T-Mobile? Well they are, and here’s what it means for you.

There’s a new site that seeks to stop the merger between these two companies. There are only four major players in the US market, even though AT&T would like to say that there are as many as 18 in each of the markets.

When AT&T says there are 18 players in each market, they are including each and every one of the piggy-back players in each of those markets. That means that companies like Boost Mobile, Virgin Mobil and all the other locals that can’t afford to buy nationwide marketing, are included as competitors.

But they aren’t. These are no competitors.

Boost, Virgin and all the other sub-big-four carriers are all buying time on the networks of Sprint, T-Mobile, AT&T and Verizon.

So when AT&T and T-Mobile merge, it just means there will be that much less competition, and that much fewer competitors in the market.

The site built in opposition of the site is StopThisMerger.com, and there are quite a few comments so far posted in opposition to the merger, with ridiculously few in support.
